By and large I'm having a great time with Black Ops 4 and I think it can be even better with a little tender love and care (and a server upgrade.) I'll update this post if and when Treyarch responds. The good news is that, beyond this issue, the developer has been incredibly open and responsive, updating the game pretty much daily and explaining what they're working on and why. You certainly can't get a good sense of how a game performs at a pre-release review event, but even a week isn't enough time to fully understand how well a game performs in the real world.īetween tick rates, bad spawns and wonky hit detection, Black Ops 4 has plenty of issues holding it back from true greatness, and Treyarch has a lot of hard work to do still. As I noted above, it's these types of issues that make me hold off penning a final, scored review for games like this right away.
